Worship at UCM

IN-PERSON SUNDAY SERVICES:

8:30 AM (Contemporary); 10:30 AM (Traditional); 5:30 PM (Worship Night)

Psalm 18:1-3; 31-35; 46; 49

1 I love You, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?

32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way clear.

33 He makes my feet like those of a deer and stations me upon the heights.

34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You have given me Your shield of salvation; Your right hand upholds me,
and Your gentleness exalts me.

46 The LORD lives, and blessed be my Rock! And may the God of my salvation be exalted —

49 Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.

PURPOSE

The Worship Ministry strives to facilitate a meaningful, intentional, and God-glorifying worship experience at UCM,
and to ensure that the UCM Mission and Values are clearly communicated in that experience.

Mission

Union Church of Manila is a church of many nations committed to making disciples who are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Values

• Centered on the Gospel
• Rooted in Scripture
• Mobilized for Mission
• Called to Renewal

This involves a wide range of people gifted in different duties and responsibilities –all with the shared purpose of meeting the needs of our congregation and enhancing their worship experience.

We have had over 100 volunteers who are involved in UCM worship on a monthly basis -- from welcoming greeters, ushers, praise and worship teams, the choir, the audio-visual crew, the church staff, and those who prepare and serve coffee, the communion elements, and much more.

Over the past years, we have also sought more involvement of the children, youth, and young adults in our worship services– not just singing in the Children’s Choir or taking part in special readings or plays for special events but as members of regular praise and worship teams, announcers and liturgists, writers, video editors, and much more as the pandemic protocols ease up.

Though many of the tasks were temporarily put on hold due to the current global pandemic, many continue with their tasks both on-campus and from home, adjusting to the needs of the times and using current technological platforms to meet and fulfill the church’s mission and vision. That includes online worship services available on various platforms – the UCM website, the UCM app, Facebook, and YouTube.

The shared vision is to help UCM be a welcoming space where people can worship and be drawn closer to our Triune God, both individually and collectively. This includes assisting the Pastoral Staff in planning and preparing for worship, including:

• Sunday worship elements (e.g., preaching, music, prayers, order of worship)
• Sunday worship support: (e.g., baptisms; communion elements and servers; ushers; greeters; prayer liturgists; sanctuary decorations; sound, lighting and visuals)
• Sunday worship music (e.g., song selection, choir, contemporary worship teams, children’s choir)

Through all these challenges, the committee continues to serve – our ultimate aim is, as it always has been, TO GLORIFY GOD THROUGH OUR WORSHIP!
